Would you like to become a tutor? Here's how:
Tutor Advisory Group (TAG)
The Tutor Advisory Group plans workshops, develops guidelines, and offers support and a shared learning experience to new and existing tutors. A series of four workshops are planned for 2008-2009, and we also have a series of Internet and printed articles available to provide the continuing education required for re-certification. All tutors who have worked with a student for over one year are required to complete two modules for re-certification.

Tutor Resources
See the links below for various resources that can help in formulating lesson plans, working with special needs students, and other topics.
Continuing Education
Following the calendar year in which a tutor is initially trained and certified, all tutors are required to participate in and complete two hours of continuing education in-service training within the next year in order to retain certification status. If the tutor is unable to attend the in-service training, he or she has the option of: (1) reading an article relevant to adult literacy (assigned by TAG) and provide a written summary or (2) completing an on-line literacy course at Verizon Literacy Network.
